GaitedTestBack - Review for questions on your horses gaits

The riders at an event where there are different breeds should indicate on the entry form what breed they will be riding. The gait they ride for "flat walk" would be the normal traveling gait for their horse. Paso largo/paso corto or foxtrot (for Mountain Horses) or a slow tölt for Icelandic horses, or the show gait for mountain horses.
In these tests, the "flat walk" was substituted for trot. Running walk and longer striding is asked for in the more advanced tests. For a mixed breed, the rider/trainer must decide which basic gait the horse does best and show it consistently - the gait could be noted on the front of the test so the judge will know what to evaluate. Free walk should show a relaxed stretch into the rein with the poll at least level with the withers.
